The Start of a New Experiment
Dear Customers and Friends
Many of you will remember that Fourteen years ago we started an experiment. The “Aim” was to see whether or not the Carriers could gently bring The Five Mile House into the 21st Century as an eatery as well as the archetypical Pub that it’s always been.
In many ways, this experiment has proved very successful. Awards have been won, Banquets applauded, friends made, and many many laughs shared and committed forever to memory.
However, we have never been able to match this with similar financial success. As the current trading conditions have worsened (and look set to continue doing so for quite some time into the Future) and our personal circumstances and outlooks have developed; we have been finding it increasingly difficult to justify the cost of running the food operation.
In short, as of Tuesday the 8th November 2011, we will no longer be serving food at the Five Mile. The Pub will continue to open for Drinks only.
Needless to say, this was not an easy decision to come to mainly due to the fact that we will have to say goodbye to many of our loyal staff and will be robbing many of you of one of your favourite places to come and eat.
On a more positive note, we do envisage developing the Wet side of the Pub to enhance its position as a social hub for the community. More details to follow – But in the meantime We would really appreciate your continued Support
For those of you who have made reservations for after the 8th of November, We must apologise for letting you down. Unfortunately it has been impossible to announce our intentions before now as my priority is to protect the staff as much as is possible from the impact of this decision. I will be contacting you all individually as soon as is possible. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me through the usual channels to discuss any ramifications.
